3,043 Individuals Stripped of Kuwaiti Citizenship by Supreme Committee

KUWAIT CITY: The Supreme Committee on Kuwaiti citizenship has announced the revocation of citizenship for 3,043 individuals, with the matter now referred to the cabinet for further action. The decision was made during a committee meeting chaired by First Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Interior Ministry issued a statement detailing the reasons behind the revocations. It revealed that 164 individuals lost their citizenship under article one of the citizenship law due to fraud. Similarly, 16 individuals had their article seven citizenship revoked for fraudulent reasons. The largest group affected, comprising 2,863 individuals, had their article eight citizenship annulled due to possessing nationalities of 54 different countries.

The action marks a significant development in Kuwait’s efforts to address issues related to citizenship and national identity. The Supreme Committee’s decision is part of ongoing measu
res to ensure compliance with the country’s citizenship laws. The cabinet will now consider the committee’s recommendations for final approval.
