AFAD: The South Of The Country Was Exposed To More Than 33 Thousand Aftershocks That Followed The Double Earthquake

The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD) announced that 33,077 aftershocks had been recorded following the double earthquake that struck the south of the country on the sixth of last February.

The Turkish AFAD said in a statement today, Saturday that “these tremors occurred from the 6th of last February until the 6th of May, and that it monitors seismic activity in and around Turkey around the clock”.

On February 6, southern Turkey and northern Syria were subjected to two earthquakes measuring 7.7 and 7.6 degrees, followed by thousands of violent aftershocks, leaving tens of thousands dead and injured, and massive destruction.
