Dar es Salaam: The African Heads of State’s Energy Summit commenced on Tuesday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, under the theme “Lighting Up Africa: The Transformative Power of Mission 300.” The event gathers heads of state and governments, regional and international banks, private sector partners, and experts, alongside civil society organizations and academic community members, to explore sustainable solutions for a comprehensive and secure energy transition.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the summit focuses on promoting the “Mission 300” initiative, a collaborative effort by the African Development Bank Group and the African Union. This initiative aims to deliver energy access to 300 million individuals in Africa by 2030, addressing the energy crisis that impacts approximately 600 million people across the continent.
The summit will culminate in the signing of the “Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration,” where African leaders will pledge to channel private investments into energy projects, enhance access to energy, and increase the adoption of renewable energy sources. Furthermore, national strategies will be unveiled to facilitate regional electricity integration, advance solar energy networks, and endorse small-scale networks to ensure an efficient and sustainable energy supply to remote areas.
