Top lawmakers from across the Arab region heaped praise on Kuwait Saturday as the country readies to host a conference on reconstruction in Iraqi cities freed from the clutches of the so-called Islamic State next week.
A “Comprehensive Arab Document” on fighting terrorism, issued after the third meeting of chief Arab parliamentarians, urged broad participation in the Kuwait-hosted conference.
Meanwhile, it addressed other issues including the need to tackle chronic unemployment in the Arab region.
The document pointed out that the Kuwaiti initiative also provides a platform to fund development projects in other Arab countries, in addition to strategies to root out terrorism.
International organizations and dozens of governments, including the United Nations and European Union are expected to announce aid to Iraq during the February 12-14 meeting in Kuwait.
