CAIRO, Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abul Gheit said on Tuesday Arab Foreign Ministers affirmed their full solidarity with Egypt and Sudan in protecting their water security.
Abul Gheit made the statement during a news conference held following the end of the 152nd session of the Arab League Council.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri briefed the council on the Egyptian-Ethiopian negotiations over the ‘Renaissance Dam’ and highlighted difficulties facing this file, Abul Gheit noted.
The ministers talked about Egypt’s water security, which is part of Arab national security, he said.
They welcomed Egypt’s continued efforts aiming to reach a consensus to achieve common interests of Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan, he said.
Shukri expressed Egypt’s sincere intentions to reach an understanding with Ethiopia, he pointed out.
