BAGHDAD, Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi said Sunday that Arab leaders understood his country’s position on the recent statement made by Iraq during Arab summit in Mecca, reiterating that Baghdad does not want to take sides.
“Everyone understands Iraq’s position and Baghdad does not want to be biased towards one party at the expense of another,” Abdul-Mahdi told reporters in a press conference.
He stressed that the speech of Iraqi President Barham Saleh at the Arab summit was agreed between the three Iraqi presidencies (the Republic, the government, and parliament), noting that the performance of the Iraqi delegation was “excellent”.
Abdul-Mahdi pointed out that the Iraqi position was admired and appreciated by all, and that Iraq did not receive any negative reactions from its Arab brothers.
