CAIRO Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abul Gheit expressed on Wednesday great concerns over military escalation in northwestern Syria in recent days.
In a statement issued by the League, Aboul Gheit called for defusing tension and avoiding armed confrontations so as not to increase suffering of civilians.
He stressed the importance of dealing with the current terrorism in some parts in Syria, and avoiding at the same time targeting civilians and civil facilities as well as hospitals.
Restoring stability in Syria and settling the country’s crisis will be achieved through the political solution in line with the UN Security Council resolution 2254, he affirmed.
