BRUSSELSEuropean Union High Representative Josep Borrell will visit Jordan on Sunday, where he will hold talks with high level Jordanian partners, his office announced Friday.
It is the first visit by Borrell to the Middle East in his capacity as the EU’s foreign policy chief. Jordan is the first destination in the region due to the role it plays there on a number of issues, noted the statement on Friday.
At the same time Jordan is an important and close partner of the European Union on a bilateral, regional and international level, it said.
His talks in Amman will focus on the bilateral relations between the EU and Jordan following up on the visit of King Abdullah of Jordan to the European institutions earlier this month. The talks will also provide an opportunity to discuss the situation in the region in light of the recent events and developments there, it added.
