Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday labelled as legitimate calls for securing international protection for the Palestinian people.
Having laid a wreath at mausoleum of the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, Abbas said, “We want the world to protect us against aggression however states such as America rejects such a (UN) resolution.” “This time we have achieved certain victory like the other victories at the United Nations,” Abbas said alluding to the latest resolution by the United Nations General Assembly, calling for international protection for the Palestinians.
Abbas expressed his belief that the resolution would be implemented in two months.
The UNGA has issued the resolution in response to Israel’s clampdown on Palestinian activists who have recently lost scores of deaths in clashes with the Israeli troops along Gaza’s demarcation lines.
