“Deal of the Century” destined for failure – Palestine

RAMALLAH, Palestine said Wednesday that the so-called “Deal of the Century” is destined for failure as long as it does not have a Palestinian support, official media reported.

The deal is also doomed to fail if it does not comply with the international legitimacy resolutions on the Palestinian cause, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, stated to Palestinian News Agency (WAFA).

Any attempt aimed to undermine the Palestinian firm and clear stand, based on the international legitimacy, will only lead to further deterioration and tension in the region and the world, said Abu Rudeineh.

“We are in the midst of a heated political confrontation in defense of our national constants, foremost of which is Jerusalem with its holy sites,” he said.

“Previous experiences have shown the Palestinian options have become effective and succeeded in besieging the colonial mentality,” added the spokesman.

The Palestinian people and their national leadership are the protective shield of the Palestinian land, identity, and holy sites, Abu Rudeineh asserted.

He also warned against belittling the potential of Palestinian and Arab people, adding the road towards a permanent peace starts with implementing UN resolutions and respecting the Palestinian stand.

“Peacemaking does not require deals or ideas, but rather a real will that believes in peace as a way to end the conflict,” said the presidential spokesperson.

The solution to all crises in our region and the world rests in achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on UN resolutions for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, he noted.
