Democrats claim victory in Pennsylvania special election

Despite a too close to call vote, the Democrats claimed a victory in Pennsylvania’s special election for a House seat.

The southwestern Pennsylvania district previously voted in favor of Republican President Donald Trump by 20 points in 2016 but swung in favor of Democrat Conor Lamb with a lead of 641 votes as of Wednesday morning.

Republican Rick Saccone depended heavily on Trump during his campaign as the president, Vice President Mike Pence, and the president’s son Donald Trump Jr all appeared on his behalf.

Despite claiming victory, there are some absentee ballots that have yet to be counted and it’s “possible” they could swing the race, Lamb said during a CNN interview.

This House seat hasn’t been filled by a Democrat in past 15 years.
