Cairo: The European Union on Tuesday affirmed its commitment to peace and readiness to cooperate with Arab partners and the international community for rebuilding the Gaza Strip. The EU’s stance was expressed by European Council President Antonio Costa, who represented the EU at the extraordinary Arab Summit currently held in Egypt to discuss the Palestinian cause.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Costa emphasized the EU’s categorical rejection of any efforts to make demographic or geographical changes in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, or any other place in the world. He stressed that a two-state solution remains the sole avenue for attaining peace. Costa reiterated the EU’s commitment to working with international partners and the Arab world to ensure the reconstruction of Gaza, aiming for stability and peace in the region.
The special Arab Summit commenced in Egypt under the chairmanship of Egyptian President Abdelfattah Alsisi, with participation from representatives of regional and international organizations, including United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Gutierres.
