BRUSSELS, The European Union described the early legislative elections that took place in Kosovo on Sunday as “peaceful and orderly, “and “well administered and transparent.” “The European Union looks forward to the formation of a new government as soon as the relevant procedures are completed.
This is important so that Kosovo can swiftly resume work on reforms,” said EU High Representative Federica Mogherini and EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European neighbourhood policy, Johannes Hahn, said in a joint statement Tuesday.
The EU called on all actors to remain committed to the implementation of the EU-Kosovo Stabilisation and Association Agreement and to the EU-facilitated Dialogue with Belgrade saying, “they are key for Kosovo’s future.” The EU had deployed an Election Observation Mission to monitor elections in Kosovo.
According to the Mission’s preliminary statement issued today the election campaign environment “was vibrant and competitive in most of Kosovo, but marred by intimidation in the Kosovo Serb areas.”
