EU urges Iran to stop all activities inconsistent with nuclear deal

BRUSSELS, The European Union Monday expressed “extreme concern” by announcement made over the weekend by Iran regarding the start of the uranium enrichment above the limit of 3.67 percent as stipulated in the Iran nuclear deal or JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action).

“We await the information of the IAEA, the only international body in charge of verifying Iran’s commitment to the nuclear deal,” Maja Kocijancic, spokesperson for EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, told a news conference in Brussels.

She called on Iran “not to take further measures that undermine the nuclear deal,” strongly urging it to “stop and reverse all activities that are inconsistent with the commitments made under the JCPOA.

“We are currently in contact with other JCPOA participants regarding the next step,” she added.
