King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah received today the first flight of travelers coming from the Federation of Malaysia under the Makkah Route initiative.
The travelers headed to Jeddah from the initiative’s terminal at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
The Makkah Route initiative is one of the Saudi Ministry of Interior’s initiatives within the Pilgrim Experience Program, part of Saudi Vision 2030.
The initiative aims to finalize the travel procedures for the pilgrims in their countries of departure, starting from the issuance of visas electronically and the collection of biometric data.
The initiative also facilitates measures related to passports after verifying the availability of health requirements.
Moreover, the initiative offers baggage coding and sorting services for the pilgrims in accordance with the transportation and housing arrangements in the Kingdom.
Upon their arrival, the pilgrims are taken in buses to their residences in Makkah and Madinah, while service agencies deliver their luggage to their residences.
