Ford to close plant in Wales

LONDON, The auto conglomerate Ford announced on Thursday it would shut down an engine plant in Wales and lay off all workers by September.

The company branch in Europe said in a statement that 1,700 workers would be dismissed at the plant, which opened in the late 70s of the past century.

The statement has said the decision to close the plant is not related to the UK Brexit process.

The plant is no longer feasible in shadow of global gradual shift to electric vehicles, it said.
