JEDDAH, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf has denounced the Yemeni Houthi militia’s assault on Abha International Airport in southern Saudi Arabia.

“This is a cowardly terrorist act and a war crime as it exposed civilian lives to danger,” Al-Hajraf argued in a press statement Tuesday, calling for holding the perpetrators’ accountable for their actions in line with the international law.

He lauded the high efficiency and vigilance of the Saudi-led Arab coalition to support the legitimate government in Yemen and its success in derailing the attack and intercepting the explosive-laden drone that was launched toward the airport.

He expressed fully solidarity with the Saudi Kingdom and support to its measures in defense of territories, security and safety of its people.

Earlier, the Saudi-led Arab coalition announced intercepting two booby-trapped Houthi drones that were targeting Abha airport.

It, however, noted that one Saudi national and seven foreign residents were injured when shrapnel of the second drone fell in the airport.
