GCC condemns sabotage acts targeting four ships near UAE territorial waters

RIYADH, The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GGC) Abdullatif Al-Zayani condemned on Sunday the sabotage operation to four commercial ships near UAE territorial waters.

In a statement, Al-Zayani described the event as a dangerous escalation by the culprits to the safety and security of the naval region, including the lives of civilian crews of operating ships.

Al-Zayani called on the international community and naval international organizations to bear responsibility and prohibits anyone from endangering the safety and security of the sea cost in this vital region.

The GCC chief affirmed that such irresponsible acts will increase tension in the region.

Earlier, four commercial ships were subjected to sabotage operations, near UAE territorial waters in the Gulf of Oman, east of Fujairah, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has announced.

In a press statement carried by the UAE news agency (WAM), the Ministry said that the concerned authorities have taken all necessary measures, and are investigating the incident in cooperation with local and international bodies.
