German Chancellor pledges more aid to Ukraine

BERLIN, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz pledged Saturday more assistance to Ukraine, including military aid, to counter the Russian war, or what Moscow calls a “special military operation.” In a message to the German citizens, Scholz said that the Berlin government would continue to provide financial, humanitarian and other aid for reconstruction, in addition to necessary weapons.

The German Chancellor also touched on his recent visit to Ukraine with Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and French President Emmanuel Macron, saying that this visit provided him with an opportunity to see closely the devastation inflicted on the northwestern parts of Ukraine, especially in the Arben region.
