German, French embassies thank Kuwait for support during floods disaster

German and French embassies thanked His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his kind feelings and words regarding the victims of the floods that hit Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and Holland.

In a joint statement on Monday, the embassies thanked Kuwait for its support during such hard times, calling on officials in Kuwait to exert further efforts on cooperation to fight climate change as part of the Paris agreement.

Kuwait’s private sector plays a big role in environment-friendly investments, said the statement, also thanking Kuwait Investment Authority for cooperating with the “One Planet Sovereign Wealth Funds” on the matter.

These floods are the worst in the past 100 years, they noted, adding that Germany and France are working hard to reduce emissions by 55 percent by 2030, as well as to build international alliances to protect biological diversity, fight desertification, and protect rainforests and oceans
