KUWAIT, Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias hailed on Tuesday His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s role and efforts to addressing crises in the region.
“I would like to commend the efforts by His Highness the Amir and his very positive role toward trying to resolve those crises in the region,” Dendias said in a statement to KUNA shortly before departure at Kuwait International Airport.
“regarding the existent tension between members of the GCC family, and with all respect, its internal character, Greece is a firm supporter of peace and stability in the area, and one can not but commend the efforts, including those by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait aiming at normalization of those relations,” he added.
“There is something admirable about Kuwait, that Kuwait has achieved to become an enormous partner in all efforts to resolve crises, and also a trusted interlocutor by all parties, that is something we highly admire and we highly commend,” said Dendias who expressed gratitude for the hospitality he received during his two-day visit.
Dendias said he held talks with His Highness Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah over a number of issues, including the overall level of relations between Greece and Kuwait.
The minister also expressed desire to help contribute to ongoing efforts to resolve crisis in the region. “we hope that we can be part of the efforts that brings stability in the region,” he said.
The minister meanwhile commended the very important role “Kuwait has been playing in efforts to resolve the huge number of crises that exist in the area, the many crises like in Syria, Libya, Lebanon, the Israeli-Palestinian situation, the Gulf, and Yemen.”
