KUWAIT CITY: The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) for Kuwait and the Gulf States, in collaboration with the British Embassy and Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), announced the planting of 125 trees to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Kuwaiti-British relations. This initiative represents a concerted effort to enhance environmental stability and promote sustainable development.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Dr. Ameera Al-Hassan, head of the UN-Habitat mission, highlighted the event’s significance in fostering environmental sustainability and greening public spaces. She emphasized the importance of using local plants in such projects to enhance biodiversity, aligning with Kuwait’s neo-development vision for 2025 and addressing the impacts of climate change. The ceremony was attended by notable figures, including the Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs and Minister Plenipotentiary Mohammad Hayati.
