Information Minister Mohammad Al-Jabri said on Wednesday that Kuwait’s past experiences, the wisdom and vast experience of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah paved the way for Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq (KICRI) to become a global hub, through the participation of many countries and various organizations.
Al-Jabri made his remarks, during a meeting with a visiting Iraqi journalists’ delegation, noting that the magnitude of this conference requires high level of communication at all levels to ensure its success.
The minister also said that the success of this conference will contribute in alleviating the suffering of Iraqi people from terror, namely the so-called Islamic State (IS).
Al-Jabri stressed importance of having exchange of media delegations due to its role in enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries, stressing the ministry’s readiness to provide all the help needed to make sure success of the conference, and to bring great assistance to the Iraqi people.
The minister expressed pleasure to meet the delegation, which also includes a number of government, financial, and relief and aid officials to discuss various topics regarding prior to the conference.
For his part, the President of Iraqi Federation of Journalists Moaid Allami said such meetings contributes to enhancing bilateral relations because it reflects on the true nature of brotherly relations between the two countries, in addition to considering the conference as a new starting point for better relations and ties between the two brotherly countries.
Allami expressed his eagerness to increase media and cultural ties between the two countries in all fields because of its importance in strengthening ties as well as enhancing cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
Allami also recalled Kuwait support, especially by his Highness the Amir to Iraq, pointing out that KICRI will be a message of love from Kuwait to all Iraqis after the liberation of Iraqi cities from IS.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Foreign Media at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information Faisal Al-Mitlaqem and Secretary of the Kuwaiti Journalists Association Adnan Al-Rashed, including senior media officials from both sides.
KICRI is due to take place from Feb. 12 to 14, with the participation of a number of contributing countries, international and regional organizations, and it will be chaired by five parties, the European Union, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Nations and the World Bank.
