TEHRAN, Iran said Saturday it has no information about whereabout of Robert Levinson, who it said was a former FBI officer, that Tehran said visited the Islamic Republic and left the country.
Iran has repeatedly said Levinson visited the country earlier and then left, “and it has no information about his whereabouts” after his departure, foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi was quoted by Fars news agency as saying.
Iran “has no commitment whatsoever towards the American government,” he said.
Qasemi said the way Iran handled this file “for humane considerations.” The US yesterday marked the 11th anniversary of disappearance of Levinson, who said was working as a CIA contractor, with a USD five million reward for information on his whereabouts. (end) fz.bs
