Iran urges Iraq to protect diplomats

TEHRAN, Iran urged the Iraqi authorities on Tuesday to take “necessary measures” to safeguard the Iranian diplomatic mission in the country. The call came after the Iranian consulate in the Iraqi city of Karbalaa was attacked and badly damaged by Iraqi demonstrators.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Abbas Musavi said in a statement that Iran demands bolstering the securing measures around buildings housing the Iranian dilomatic missions’ staff.
