Iranian FM lauds Iraq’s role in promoting regional cooperation

BAGHDAD, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian extolled Iraq’s pivotal role in reaching convergences among regional countries.

Amirabdollahian made this remark during his meeting with Iraq’s Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhemi on Saturday on the sideline of Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, according to a statement by the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office.

He also hailed the conference for promoting the positive cooperation and partnership among the countries in the region.

The Iranian official affirmed his country’s support to Iraq’s security and stability as well as its war on terror.

On his part, the Iraqi Prime Minister stressed on the importance of the cooperation to address regional causes and meet people’s aspirations for sustainable development and stability, the statement said.

The Iranian foreign minister represented his country at the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, in which nine countries participated.
