Judges appointed out by Iraq’s top court have decided that the manual recounting of votes would be for only polling stations where results were contested or official reports of suspected rigging operations were presented to the commission.
In a press conference held Sunday, the judges spokesman justice Laith Jabr said that manual recounting would cover contested polling centers inside and outside Iraq.
He added that the judges had ordered authorities to move the ballots boxes in these centers to Baghdad to be recounted in the presence of representatives of UN, political parties and candidates.
The decision comes in implementation of an earlier verdict by Iraq’s Federal Court in this regard, he said.
