Israel attacked Tifour airport, says Syria

AMMAN, Syria said on Monday that Israel bombed Al-Tifour airport; in the center of Homs, with missiles from (F-15) fighter jets from Lebanese territory, causing casualties.

The same sources said earlier that air defense forces intercepted the attack and dropped eight missiles. The bombing resulted in deaths and injuries, Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) quoted source as saying.

Tifour airport witnessed a similar attack by Israeli forces as a response to an alleged Iranian aerial attack Israel said it penetrated its airspace.

Meanwhile, a strong explosion shock Homs suburbs, which seemed later to be a missile fired from a fighter jet targeting the area surrounding Tifour airport; controlled by the Assad regime forces, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

It added that 14 people from the regime forces were killed and others injured.

On Sunday, the Russian defense ministry announced that Israeli fighters attacked several locations in Syria late Saturday night, Interfax news agency reported, quoting sources.

The sources added that Israeli fighter jets launched eight missiles against Syrian air base in the suburbs of Homs from the Lebanese airspace.

According to the sources, the Syrian air defense dropped five missiles in retaliation, with casualties among the Russian working in the region. (
