NEW YORK, Kuwait said Friday it called for an urgent UN Security Council meeting to hold Israeli occupation responsible for killing and injuring over 1,400 Palestinians, and that “terrorizing and excessive use of force” would not break the Palestinian people will.
The International community should “hold the occupying authority, the Israeli authority, legally, politically and legally responsible” for killing 15 Palestinians and injuring over 1,400 others, Kuwait permanent representative to the UN Mansour Al-Otaibi told KUNA.
The urgent session, he added, was to reaffirm terrorizing Palestinians and excessive use of force “will not break the will of the Palestinian people who are resisting the occupation.” The Israeli forces opened fire at peaceful demonstrations in Gaza Strip who were marking the Land Day, reviving their right of return to their lands and homes that were occupied by Israel.
“We denounce in strongest terms these criminal acts which contravene international resolutions and the international humanitarian law, which were committed by the occupying authority against innocent civilians who were holding peaceful demonstration,” said Al-Otaibi.
Israel, as an occupying power, fails to abide by the 1949 4th Geneva convention and UN resolution. “This shows a carelessness towards the international community’s decisions, which is the main cause behind the growing humanitarian crises facing the unarmed Palestinian people,” he said.
Al-Otaibi called for providing an international protection for the Palestinian people.
Kuwait, through its UNSC non-permanent membership, would spare no effort in defending Arab causes foremost the Palestinian cause, affirmed Al-Otaibi.
