AMMAN, King Abdullah of Jordan underlined Monday important role of the Arab League in coordinating and uniting Arab positions for just Arab causes.
King Abdullah made the remarks during a meeting with Ahmad Abul Gheit, Secretary General of the Arab League, who presented a report to the Monarch about common Arab action during Jordan’s presidency of the Arab summit, official Petra news agency reported.
King Abdullah reiterated support for the strengthening of common Arab action amidst “critical circumstances” in the region, citing the Palestinian question.
Abul Gheit commended the resolutions of the Arab summit held in Jordan last year, and said ending the Palestine-Israel conflict on the basis of the two-state solution was essential.
Jordan hosted the Arab summit in March 2017, and Amman Declaration focused on relaunching peace talks between the Israelis and Palestinians, supporting countries hosting refugees and condemning all acts aimed at undermining security in the region.
