Jordan’s Shelbayh wins Arab Masters in Kuwait

— Jordanian Abedallah Shelbayh bounced back, clinching two sets after being one down against Lebanon’s Benjamin Hassan to win the Arab Masters Tournament in dramatic fashion in Kuwait on Wednesday.

Seeded fourth in the tournament, the 19-year-old was triumphant in two consecutive sets (6-3, 8-10) despite being defeated in the first (6-4) by his third-seeded Lebanese opponent at Sheikh Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah International Complex.

Elsewhere, Tunisian duo, Aziz Dougaz and Skander Mansouri won the doubles title after defeating Shelbaya and his compatriot Musa Al-Qutb in two straight sets.

The Kuwait-held tournament came to a close with a Cup of Excellence handed out to Jordan for their victory in the singles and runners-up result in the doubles.
