Kazakh Pres. welcomes Kuwait as CICA’s 28th member

 

– Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed the State of Kuwait becoming the 28th member of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
During his speech at the sixth session of the CICA Heads of State Summit in the Kazakh capital, Astana, president Tokayev affirmed that Kuwait’s accession to the CICA will lead to developing and strengthening the continental organization.
In remarks during the summit, Kuwait’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan Dr. Omar Al-Kandari said that Kuwait’s membership of CICA represents a qualitative leap in the level of regional cooperation and new development in the directions of political, security, cultural, and economic cooperation, in addition to enhancing Kuwait’s openness to this continent.
This membership will give Kuwait a greater opportunity to serve peace, cooperation and development in Asia in line with the principles of Kuwait’s long-standing foreign policy, he added.
Al-Kandari, who headed the Kuwaiti delegation at the summit, said that Kuwait’s policy is based on maintaining international peace and security and calling for peaceful solutions to international conflicts through dialogue and peaceful means.
The summit, which kicked off today and was attended by the heads of 11 countries, including the Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, in addition to the heads of Central Asian countries, will discuss current regional and international issues.
CICA currently includes 28 member states, including eight Arab countries: Kuwait, Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, UAE, Iraq, Bahrain and Qatar, nine observer countries and five international organizations as observers, including the United Nations and the League of Arab States.
