Kuwait declares 1,408 more COVID-19 cases, 1,158 recoveries, five deaths

At least 1,408 people have been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) over the last 24 hours, taking the total infections to 301,863, Spokesman for the Ministry of Health Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said on Tuesday.

The number of those recovered from the disease hit 1,158 over 24 hours, raising the overall recoveries to 287,357, he told KUNA in a statement.

Five patients succumbed to the coronavirus pandemic, he noted, indicating that the death toll has risen so far to 1,746.

Up to 12,760 patients are receiving treatment at hospitals, in addition to 146 cases at intensive care units, he stated.

Overall medical swabs rose to 2,545,841 after conducting 10,812 in the same period, Al-Sanad made clear. The ratio between recoveries and swabs is 13.02 percent. Al-Sanad renewed call for both citizens and expats to abide by health precautions and physical distancing as well as avoid gatherings.

He also appealed to people to follow up the official accounts of the ministry and the state’s bodies to be briefed on guidelines and recommendations in order to control the spread of the coronavirus.
