Kuwait donates USD 2.4 mLn to UN agencies

The State of Kuwait announced late Friday voluntary donations amounting to USD 2.397 million for aid programs of the UN agencies.

According to a statement by the Permanent Representative of Kuwait to the United Nations, the contribution was delivered to several UN programs including the UN Central Emergency Response Fund, (CERF), UN Development Program (UNDP), UN Human Settlements Program, UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), UN Environment Program (UNEP), and UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women.

Moreover, the Kuwaiti aid will also fund the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), the UN Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture, the UN housing fund, and the UN Fund for Drug Abuse Control, it added.

Separately from the abovementioned sum, the Kuwaiti permanent mission delivered USD 900,000 to the bureau of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), USD 100,000 for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and USD 50,000 to the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the statement added.
