Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced on Saturday the suspension of direct commercial flights from South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho, Eswatini, Zambia and Malawi.

The decision was taken based on the Kuwaiti health authorities’ instructions due to the spread of a new mutated strain of the novel coronavirus (covid-19), the DGCA told KUNA in a statement.

The suspension doesn’t include freight aircraft, a DGCA statement noted.

There will be a 7-day constitutional quarantine for the Kuwaiti nationals who are coming from these countries, it added.

It noted that they should show a PCR test when they arrive in the country and make another test in the 6th day of their arrival.

Meanwhile, non-Kuwaiti citizens should spend at least 14 days in another country, as a condition, to enter the country, it pointed out.

The directorate called on citizens to avoid travelling at present, if not necessary, especially to the countries facing a new mutated strain of the virus, it made clear.
