Kuwait highlights women’s role, marking Int’l Women’s Day

Kuwait, represented by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Community Development and the Supreme Council for Family Affairs celebrated International Women’s Day.

During a ceremony (Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality), Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development and Minister of State for Women and Childhood Affairs, Mai Al-Baghli said that International Women’s Day is an annual station to measure the extent of women’s influence in people’s civilization and to consider their active role and participation with men in all aspects that contribute to nations’ development.

She also emphasized the role of Kuwaiti women and supported their involvement in the community, praising their achievements in different fields.

In turn, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs Abdulaziz Al-Mutairi said that the ministry has a major role in containing and caring for women by providing public assistance to those who do not have a fixed source that guarantees them a decent life, in addition to supporting them with legislation and laws that serve and care for them.

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, Dr. Maryam Al-Azmi, affirmed the Council’s endeavor to create a safe environment for women, in addition to preparing initiatives and action plans to support women, including the initiative (eliminating forms of discrimination against women).
