Kuwait Info Ministry commends Oman hosting of IFJ Congress

The Ministry of Information praised on Friday the success of Oman’s plan to host the triennial World Congress of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) in Muscat on May 31.

Minister of Information and Culture Dr. Hamad Rouh-Eddin is delighted for the fact that the Sultanate of Oman was able to add knowledge, professional and humanitarian aspects to this important global gathering, said Anwar Murad, the spokesman of the Ministry.

The Sultanate honored the families of journalists who lost their lives while doing their jobs. It also dedicated an award for the best press photo and invited several international organization to the four-day gathering, Murad noted in a statement.

Minister Rouh-Eddin congratulated Treasurer of Kuwait Journalists Association Dhiran Aba-Alkhil on his election to the IFJ Executive Board, the spokesman said, noting that the election reflects the high status of Kuwait’s journalism and the freedom of the press.
