Kuwait Informatics Award winners announced

— His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award announced on Sunday four winners of the prize in its 22nd edition.

In a statement to KUNA, member of the board of trustees and chairman of the supreme organizing committee, Bassam Al-Shammari said that this year’s award went to Dar Al Qabas Press, Printing and Publishing Company for its distinguished work in the field of digital transformation, media, and information content industry.

The second award went to Faisal Abdul Rahman Al-Shayji, the former Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning for Statistics Affairs, for his contribution to the establishment of the technical structures for government institutions.

The two other awards went to the Public Prosecution in Qatar for its accomplishment in the digital transformation in the judicial field and the provision of modern electronic services, while (SmartMed) company from Tunisia won the fourth award for being distinguished in digital transformation in the medical field and creating one of the largest free interactive medical platforms.

The award reflects the importance of implementing the digital transformation in Arab societies, and encourages competition among contestants in the field of technical, digital platforms, and the information content, Al-Shammari added.

The Award’s qualification committee and the arbitration board include volunteers with international digital experience in Kuwait and the Arab world, which would ensure transparency and objectivity for evaluation, Al-Shammari noted.
