Kuwait mission gives displaced Iraqis 65 tonnes of food on Ramadan

Kuwait’s General Consulate in Irbil is handing out 65 tonnes of food as a Ramadan initiative to the displaced and refugee Iraqi community in the northern Kurdistan region, a diplomat said on Tuesday.

The move falls in line with Kuwait’s humanitarian policies currently assumed by His Highness Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and by the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah formerly, Consul General in Irbil Omar Al-Kandari said.

Kurdistan is home to millions of displaced people, seeking safe shelter far from the practices of the so-called Islamic State group, he mentioned.

The initiative will see assorted food packages distributed across Irbil, Sulaymaniyah and Mosul, amongst other nearby cities and towns.
