— Chairperson of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said on Monday qualification of ten Kuwaiti players for the Olympics on Tokyo is a significant achievement for the national sports, particularly in the shadow of the coronavirus.
Sheikh Fahad, in a statement marking departure of the official Kuwaiti delegation to Tokyo, affirmed that the Kuwaiti athletes’ participation in the games reflected development of the sports movement in the country, amid special care for the sector from the top leaders.
Such participation is substantial for sports as an avenue for contacts and interaction with peoples of the world, he said, highly lauding the care accorded to the sector by His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince.
He thanked the government for securing a special plane for transporting the delegation to Tokyo.
The Kuwaiti champions have expressed aspiration to make good records in the upcoming Olympics in Tokyo due between July 23 and August 8.
