– Secretary General of the Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC) Duaij Al-Otaibi has declared that the State of Kuwait will organized the first Asian championship for men and women on Friday.
The two-day tournament will be held virtually, said Al-Otaibi, also chairman of the Kuwaiti and Arab shooting federation in a press statement on Sunday.
Headquarters of the tournament will be at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex, he said, affirming that a large number of national teams representing the Asian countries will partake in the competitions.
The championship will be supervised by the Asian confederation, under chairmanship of Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, Al-Otaibi said, adding that the steering committee selected international referees for the competitions in each of the partaking countries.
So far, 16 states have been listed in the participating countries, he said, however, he indicated that the number of the competing states might increase.
He affirmed that the long-distance competition would be organized in such a status due to the coronavirus. However, he affirmed necessity of holding the competitions to keep the shooters fully ready for upcoming international events namely the olympic games set in Tokyo, Japan, in the summer.
