Kuwait Projects USD 22.44 Billion Budget Deficit for FY25-26

Kuwait City: Kuwait’s budget deficit in the fiscal year 2025-2026 is expected to reach KD 6.306 billion (USD 22.44 billion), as announced by the Cabinet during an extraordinary meeting on Sunday.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the budget, which spans from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, also projects KD 18.231 billion (USD 59.10 billion) in revenue and KD 24.538 billion (USD 79.54 billion) in expenditure. Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic and Investment Affairs Noura Al-Fassam provided these figures.

The Cabinet, after commending Al-Fassam’s presentation, which included the endorsement of budget bills for ministries and government agencies for the stated fiscal year, decided to approve the draft bills. These will be forwarded to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, as confirmed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, and acting defense and interior minister Shereedah Al-Mousherji following the meeting, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah at Bayan Palace.

In addition, on the occasion of national celebrations marking Kuwait’s 64th National Day and 34th Liberation Day, the Cabinet extended sincere greetings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the Kuwaiti people.
