Kuwait City: The State of Kuwait has reiterated its dedication to enhancing the legal framework of international arbitration, aiming to stay abreast of developments in trade dispute settlement mechanisms. This endeavor is part of the country’s broader strategy to foster justice and improve the investment climate.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Counselor at the Fatwa and Legislation Department, Sheikha Alia Al-Sabah, highlighted Kuwait’s commitment in a statement following the meetings of the Working Group II of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), which took place from February 3 to 7. Sheikha Alia emphasized the importance of participating in such meetings to exchange experiences with other nations and international bodies, and to develop effective legal standards that facilitate the recognition and enforcement of online arbitration decisions both regionally and internationally.
Sheikha Alia also pointed out that during the UNCITRAL meetings, participants explored methods for acknowledging and executing online arbitration rulings. This discussion comes in response to the swift advancements in dispute resolution through digital technologies.
