Kuwait second in the Gulf in stem cells transplants — official

Kuwait ranks second at the Gulf level in stem cells transplants for children. drawing up its program in the special medical field in 2020.

Up to 33 transplant operations for children had been conducted within framework of this program, said Dr. Meshaal Al-Kandari, the assistant undersecretary for dentistry, in a statement he addressed on behalf of the minister of health at the inauguration of the second stem cells transplantation conference, organized by the National Bank Hospital.

Dr. Al-Kandari said he was proud of using stem cells treatment in cases suffering from cancer and immunity deficiency as well as blood and hereditary diseases.

The head of the children blood diseases ward at the hospital, Dr. Sondos Al-Sharida, indicated in her statement that the conferees would examine latest innovations in stem cells transplanting, adding that participants would visit the stem cells transplant division She indicated that among the 33 conducted operations, 29 of the cases had been donated organs.
