Kuwait is taking part in the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), which began Mar 12 and continues until Mar 23.
The meetings will discuss resolving issues facing women, and enabling them to take part in decision making, fatwa department coordinator, at Kuwait’s Women’s Affairs Committee, at the Cabinet consultant, Huda Al-Shaiji told KUNA, on Wednesday.
They will also discuss improving the living, working and financial status of women, living in rural areas, she said.
She noted that, UN member-countries, including Kuwait, have adopted enabling women to play a big role in all sectors, as part of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) 2030.
Meanwhile, Al-Shaiji said that, Kuwaiti women are working in different senior positions, such as, ministers, ambassadors, delegates and MP’s.
They also play important roles in making key decisions in the country.
CSW is a global intergovernmental body dedicated to promoting gender equality and empowering women. CSW is under the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and was established in Jun, 1946.
