Kuwait University launched on Wednesday Al-Shedadiya firefighting station at Sabah Al-Salem Campus city, equipped with the latest mechanisms, laboratories, monitoring and control of leaks, in addition to security and safety devices.
In a statement on the sidelines of the opening ceremony, the Deputy Chairman of Kuwait University Dr. Fahad Al-Rashidi stressed the importance of having a firefighting station in the campus city that includes more than 43.000 students and 3.000 teaching staff, and located on an area of six million square meter.
He explained that although the university has a prevention sector with the highest safety standards used in buildings and facilities, emergency accidents are possible, which confirms the need for the presence of a general fire force on campus to respond to any emergency event quickly and in a short time.
On his part, Chief of the General Fire Brigade, Lieutenant-General Khaled Al-Mekrad said in a similar statement that (Al-Shedadiya) firefighting center is specialized in dealing with hazardous, gaseous and radioactive materials, ” it is one of the leading specialized centers in the State of Kuwait and the region”, he noted.
