Kuwaiti coast guard thwarts drugs’ smuggling attempt

– Interior ministry Coast Guard managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle 131kgms of hashish into the country via sea.
Coast Guard patrols monitored a suspect boat with four people onboard through thermal cameras, clamped down and managed to detain them.
When questioned, the group admitted dumping the narcotics in the water, yet, the shipment was traced down and retrieved, said a ministry statement late Thursday.
Furthermore, the detained confessed that the shipment was meant to be delivered to a citizen inside the country, who is collaborating with another citizen outside.
The detainees and confiscated belongings were referred to relevant authorities, pending legal action, while the suspected citizen was arrested after a legal warrant was issued, noted the statement.
