Kuwaiti firefighters help Turkey extinguishing forest fires

– Kuwaiti firefighters continue for the fifth day in a row their efforts to assist combat raging wildfires across Turkey.

In statements to KUNA, coordinator of Kuwait’s firefighting mission Colonel Abdullah Al-Saleem said that the Kuwaiti firefighters have joined Turkish peers in fighting wildfires in the Southwestern Province of Mugla.

Colonel Al-Saleem noted that over the days, the Kuwaiti personnel were on the frontline in extinguishing Mugla fires.

A total of 45 Kuwaiti firefighters equipped with six vehicles have been sent to Turkey help bring under control forest fires there, upon directives from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Earlier today, Turkish Agriculture and Forestry Minister announced success of controlling 297 fires in 54 provinces across the country. He pointed out that the country has been combatting the fires for 16 days.

He noted that the fires, which erupted on July 28, have claimed the lives of six people and injured dozens others.
