Kuwaiti official urges ending violence against women

Cases of violence against women are among the most dangerous phenomena threating our society, Acting Undersecretary of Kuwait Ministry of Social Affairs and Community Development Mesllam Al-Subai said Monday.

This came in remarks he gave during his participating as well as his accompanying delegation in the opening ceremony of the Arab Declaration for the Elimination of All Forms of Violence against Women and Girls, held in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Women play key and distinguished role in development of the societies, as their cases are of the most prominent at the international level, he affirmed.

Kuwait is keen in offering all possible care to women that comes to reassure Kuwait’s constitution principals, as the protection of women came at the top of Kuwait’s priorities, he said.

Kuwait is taking all required procedures and regulations that are responsible of guaranteeing the legal and social rights of women and girls in all fields and domains, he added. This venue kicked of earlier today in Abu Dhabi, headed by UAE Minister of Community Development Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid, and the Secretary General of the Social Affairs Sector in the Arab League ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, as well as group of representatives of international organizations and relevant regional and national Arab bodies.

The Ministry’s participating delegation included Acting Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs Fawziah Al-Mulhim, and Director of the Juvenile Welfare Department at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Dr Jassem Al-Kandari.
