Kuwaiti police seize 3 containers with 5 mln Captagon pills

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Lt.-Gen. Anwar Al-Barjas on Saturday led a crackdown on drug traffickers where three containers were seized with nearly five million illicit Captagon bills inside.

The illicit drugs were designed to be smuggled from an Asian country into Shuwaikh Port in Kuwait, according to a statement from the Ministry’s General Directorate of Security Relations and Media. The value of the seizure is estimated at KD eight million (some USD 26.4 million), the statement said, noting that the crackdown was carried out in collaboration with the General Administration of Customs.

Acting on tips and under authorization from the Public Prosecution, the General Administration for Drug Control decided to intercept and search the three containers camouflaged as foodstuff containers.

Lt.-Gen. Al-Barjas thanked the staffers of the General Administration for Drug Control and General Administration of Customs for their dedicated effort to the combat the drug traffickers.

He conveyed to them the greetings and appreciation of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Gen. (rtd) Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
